TinyWidget14

If you have an iPhone, then I am sure that you have come across the Now Playing widget that usually pops up on the Lock Screen when you are playing media in the background of your iPhone.

And although the Now Playing widget is useful for controlling the playback, it does take a lot of vertical space on the Lock Screen which doesn’t leave much room for getting the missed notification banners. Thankfully, we have a new, free jailbreak tweak known as TinyWidget14 developed by iOS developer P2KDev that usually reduces the size of the Now Playing widget by putting it on a diet.

As you will be able to see from the screenshot shared in this article, there is a difference in how the Now Playing widget looks before and after you install this tweak. Although the changes added by TinyWidget14 are quite subtle, however, they are big enough that users have additional screen real estate to show missed notification banners on the Lock Screen which is the best thing about this tweak. Moreover, just because the interface becomes smaller, it doesn’t mean that you don’t have the access to the necessary features. Users can still access all the same functions on the shrunken one as they were able to do on the full-sized one.

Also, this real estate efficiency is not just limited to the Music app but works well with other apps as well such as Spotify, Pandora, and other music streaming apps. You can also use this tweak with the Podcasts app or other kinds of apps that play audio in the background.

You won’t find any configuration options for TinyWidget14 so you generally get what you see. Although it might not seem like a lot but the daily user experience of using an iPhone while playing music and accessing missed notifications is definitely noticeable.

If you are interested in trying out TinyWidget14, then you can easily download this tweak for free from the Packix repository using your favorite package manager. This tweak is currently supported on jailbroken iOS 13 and 14 devices and is available as open-source on their official Github page.
