A lot of people don’t know this but force-closing your apps in the App Switcher is not a recommended practice of iOS or iPadOS devices but a lot of users keep on doing it regularly. But that’s not even the saddest part about it.
The worst feeling is when you see a user accidentally force-close an app that they were currently using and didn’t intend to actually close. In fact, they were just trying to force-close other apps so that they could free up some system memory so that the app they were using could work properly and offers them good performance.
Well, we have a new and free jailbreak tweak for you to check out named StayWithMe by iOS developer popsicletreehouse that prevents the above scenario from occurring. How does it do this? Well, it does this by ensuring that your most recently-used apps cannot be force-closed through the App Switcher except when you specifically swipe down on the card.
As this feature usually works, when you force-close all the other apps, they would close normally when you swipe up on the App Switcher cards except for the recently used app. This is great because you won’t accidentally end up closing the app and won’t lose your progress or spot in the app. After the installation of StayWithMe, a dedicated preference pane is added in the Settings app which you can use to configure the tweak to your liking.
In the Settings, you have the option to toggle StayWithMe on or off, select the apps to be excluded from the recently used apps exemption, and so on. One thing to note is that apps that have been toggled on from this page can be normally force-closed, regardless of them being recently used app or not.
StayWithMe isn’t necessarily a useful jailbreak tweak for everyone, especially for the users who use the App Switcher feature of Apple the way it is supposed to be used. So, if you don’t force close the apps and let the iOS or iPadOS to manage the system memory, then this tweak might not be for you. For others who tend to force-close the apps, this tweak is great and can be downloaded for free from the Packix repository. The tweak is currently supported by iOS and iPadOS 13 and 14 devices.
