Pwn20wnd hints at unc0ver for iOS 14 with support for the latest A14 devices

If you have been following the jailbreak community news, then you would know that a few weeks back, ModernPwner released a kernel exploit cicuta_verosa for iOS and iPadOS 14.0 – 14.3. But we got to know later that the team that could use this exploit was Coolstar for upcoming Odyssey14 jailbreak and other GPL-compliant projects. So, unc0ver jailbreak didn’t have the permission to use this exploit as such.

Although unc0ver lead developer, Pwn20wnd, was quiet for the past few weeks, he finally broke his silence by sharing a few tweets on Thursday where he teased that an iOS and iPadOS 14-compatible jailbreak will be released for all the devices.

In these tweets, Pwn20wnd told the jailbreak community that he is still working and that the unc0ver team has actually written their own kernel exploit based on CVE-2020-1798, also known as cicuta_verosa, for their unc0ver jailbreak instead of utilizing the exploit that was released to the public sometime back.

According to the tweets, the updated unc0ver jailbreak is stable and performing well. Also, the system-wide tweak injection is supported on iOS and iPadOS 14, likely to be using the new Substitute v2.0+ that was released at the starting of the year and Pwn20wnd also teased that Cydia was working well on iPhone 12 Pro Max.

After going through all these tweets, it is safe to assume that Pwn20wnd has already started the development of the jailbreak for iOS and iPadOS 14 but we cannot really say what level of completion has it reached or when will it be made available for the general public.

However, an important thing to note is that currently, we don’t have any ETA on CoolStar’s upcoming Odyssey14 jailbreak as well. All we know right now is that it is currently being worked on similar to unc0ver for iOS and iPadOS 14.

Now, regardless of liking Odyssey’s libhooker and Sileo ecosystem or unc0ver’s Substitute and Cydia ecosystem, the latest announcements regarding the same is bound to excite you. This basically means that both the hackers who are prominent in the jailbreak community are still well and working on new developing tools to allow users to enjoy the handsets in a free and unrestricted manner.

So, what do you think? Will you be choosing unc0ver or Odyssey14 for jailbreaking iOS and iPadOS 14 devices? Do let us know in the comments below!
