Pok Pok Playroom from Alto’s Adventure makers is a kids app for creative learning.

Snowman, the creators of the endless runner and sand/snowboarding games Alto's Adventure and Alto's Odyssey, has released a new immersive iOS app aimed at children.

Highlights of the story:

  • For your toddler, a series of handcrafted digital toys.
  • Kids can use the app to design, tinker, develop, learn, and grow.
  • Aimed at children aged 2 to 6.

A Playroom designed for 2 to 6-year-olds

Pok Pok Playroom is hailed as a series of handcrafted virtual toys that spark innovation, creativity, and learning through open-ended play. The development team collaborated with a team of educators, including school teachers, early childhood scholars, sensory specialists, and diversity consultants, during the game's development.

Their pitch for Pok Pok Playroom is as follows:

"When exploring the toy room, children aged 2 to 6 are encouraged to use their imaginations, think outside the box, and be imaginative. No single correct or incorrect response, and no winning or losing—kids are free to simply follow their noses. Handmade art and soothing sounds set the stage for a relaxing playtime, allowing children to relax both during and after play.

Since there is no text or language in the app, it should be freely available.

Pok Pok Playroom has a list of easy questions for parents to ask their children when they are playing to help them learn more. Pok Pok Playroom has something for everyone, thanks to the wide range of interactive toys available in the game. Furthermore, the team has promised to frequently update toys and bring new ones to the app, ensuring that playtime is never dull.

Meet the Pok Pok Playroom

According to the developers of Pok Pok Playroom,

"We're a team of digital toymakers who believe that our future lies in the hands of the little dreamers and problem-solvers who will one day change the world. Our aim is to help in the development and inspiration of the next generation of innovative thinkers."

Snowman, the creative studio behind Alto's collection, was the first to incubate Pok Pok.

The Origins of Pok Pok Playroom

The business has been incubating this project for a few years, according to Snowman's Medium article. In reality, they founded Pok Pok, a brand new creative studio that focuses solely on play-based learning opportunities for children.

The Snowman studio came up with the concept for Pok Pok Playroom in the following way.:

"Mathijs and Esther wanted their two toddlers to be able to use their iPads to become curious about the world around them, not just to distract them from it, as parents and artists.

"They couldn't find anything educational that inspired innovation, imagination, and discovery in the way they envisioned, so they decided to create it themselves.

"We knew they were onto something special when they first showed us the digital picture book they were working on for their own children. This concept sparked the next few years of work, and it grew into a much bigger vision."

Pok Pok Playroom is the company's first application.
