IPCarrier Jailbreak

There are a lot of experienced and advanced jailbreakers that often perform more customizations in their devices rather than just downloading and installing jailbreak tweaks. Such users often SSH into their handsets to carry out deeper customizations through the file system directly.

To begin the SSH connection, one needs to know the local IP address of the handset that can easily be found in the Wi-Fi preference pane that is available in the Settings app. However, for users who use SSH frequently, especially if they are going to be using it on someone else’s network, they might want a quicker way to access the said IP address.

This is where IPCarrier comes to your rescue. This is a newly released and free jailbreak tweak by iOS developer ginsu. The main feature of this tweak is to replace the carrier text of your Status Bar with the local IP address of the handset. IPCarrier is a simple jailbreak tweak with no configuration options and actually handles two different types of audiences:

  • Users who want a faster access to the IP address of their handset
  • Users who want something else to look at in the Status Bar of their handset

Once you install this tweak, it will automatically replace the carrier text of your Status Bar with the local IP address. You will be using this IP address in the SSH connection and it is extremely easy to find it, all you need to do is swipe down to check the Control Center page. Since there are no configuration options available for this tweak, if you wish to remove it then you would need to uninstall the tweak.

If you want to try out IPCarrier for yourself, then you can easily download it for free from ginsu’s personal repository using the favorite package manager. This tweak is supported on the iOS 14 devices.

If you haven’t been using ginsu’s repository, then you can easily add it to your favorite package manager using the following URL:
