ByeBackgroundBreadcrumbs Jailbreak

Have you ever noticed that when you switch from one app to another, there is the name of the application visible on the left side of the Status Bar of your iPhone or iPad? Well, this is what you call a Breadcrumb link by Apple. With the help of this link, you can immediately go back to the app that you were using earlier once you are done with the app that you jolted to.

While the concept of Breadcrumb links is pretty awesome, there is one seriously annoying thing about it that tends to bug a lot of users which is the fact that the link stays in the Status Bar even after you have exited the app and forcefully closed it. If this happens, then the only way to get rid of the Breadcrumb link is by clicking on the link which results in the re-launch of the app whether you needed it or not.

Due to this small inconvenience, most people have a love/hate relationship with Breadcrumb links and keeping that in mind, we introduce to you a newly released and free jailbreak tweak known as ByeBackgroundBreadcrumbs by iOS developer Popsicle Treehouse. This jailbreak tweak solves one primary issue with Breadcrumbs feature which is to get rid of the Breadcrumbs link once you have forcefully closed the app.

After the installation of this jailbreak tweak, when you force-close the original app from the App Store and continue using the subsequent app, the Breadcrumb link will get removed automatically from the Status Bar. Basically, the user doesn’t need to tap on the Breadcrumb link anymore to get rid of it which usually ended up in the re-launch of the origin app regardless of whether you wanted to open it or not.

This jailbreak tweak adds a dedicated preference in the Settings from where you can turn this tweak on or off whenever you want and the user can also select the apps for who they wish to disable this functionality. ByeBackgroundBreadcrumbs is a niche jailbreak tweak but if you are bothered with unnecessary details on your Status Bar, then this tweak will be a perfect fit for you.

Those users who would like to try out ByeBackgroundBreadcrumbs tweak, they can get it for free from the Packix repository using their favorite package manager. It supports jailbroken installations of both iOS 13 and 14 devices and the tweak is open source of developer’s Github page so you can take a look to understand how this tweak works.
