Terragen create realistic visualizations of landscapes.
Terragen 4 is a free version of app to create highly realistic visualizations of landscapes. This application was used to create landscape in many Hollywood blockbusters such as The Hunger Games, Man of Steel, The Great Gatsby, Elysium, Oblivion, Green Lantern, Tron Legacy and The Day After Tomorrow and many others.
Using the program, you can generate natural elements such as mountains, forests, glaciers, rivers, weather, clouds, lakes and oceans, suns, moons, galaxies and stars. Creating effects is carried out by moving the sliders.
Terragen allows for any set of cameras in order to select the most appropriate place to render the scene. Created project can be saved as an image file (BMP, TIFF, OpenEXR, SGI RGB) as well as export to video format using scripts. Terragen 4 Free download for Windows, Linux and OSX.
Three-dimensional objects generated using the program can be exported to formats LWO, OBJ and FBX import them into your favorite programs for 3D modeling, eg. Maya, 3DS Max, Cinema 4D or Blender.
In these applications, you can also schedule the path of the camera, and then import it to the application Terragen 4. Ray-Traced Preview provides almost instant feedback as you work on your objects, shaders, atmosphere and lighting, allowing you to fine-tune your scenes much more quickly and easily.
The addition of high quality, context-aware lens effects such as bloom and starbursts bring an additional layer of photo realism, and all effects respond realistically to the characteristics of your light sources, speculars, and other bright areas of the image.
Lens effects operate in high dynamic range, taking into account light source and specular reflection intensity, color, occlusion, and atmospheric scattering.
Terragen allows you to create and manipulate highly realistic terrains, both heightfield and procedural. You can load existing heightfields to replicate real-world terrains and gain additional control by using a 3rd party terrain editor, or leverage the powerful built-in procedural functions to achieve global-scale terrains of nearly infinite detail, from the smallest pebble, to the largest mountains.
You can combine the benefits of both terrain types in one scene, seamlessly.
Terragen 4 can simulate light scattering hundreds of times within clouds to produce their characteristic softness, as well as inter-cloud and cloud-surface interactions.
The free version has a limit to the possibilities of rendering a maximum resolution of 1280x900 and generating a small number of objects on the ground.
Terragen is installed by default in the full version for 30 days. After this time the program is transformed into the free version of these limitations.
