About SeaTools:

Virus threats, corruption and hardware conflicts are the most common problems on SCSI, A.T.A., USB, and SATA drives. To test for these problems, you will need a specific utility collection via Seagate called “SeaTools” for Windows.

Performing this complicated task requires several tests to be conducted to diagnose the health of external devices as well as internal devices, whether they are Seagate drives or not. The manufacturer of a drive doesn't matter because its purpose can be completed. When you launch the program, all the installed drives are automatically detected in the application. This includes both internal and external drives. The program also detects a model number of the drives, their firmware version and the status of the drives. The status allows you to know if a particular device is still identified or if testing can be done now.

Choose the drive which you want to test and also select a tool which is available within the “Basic Tests” menu. Also, you can save most of your time by choosing Short Drive Self-Test and S.M.A.R.T. Check. They will tell you if your drive is operating under useful parameters. However, you will not receive a detailed report from these options. Some additional features include a boot drive report, a test to determine current antivirus software installed, and series of shortcuts that launch standard Windows utilities like System Info, System Properties, Disk Management and Device Manager.
