Dragon Ball Z: Shin Budokai is a fighting video game that was distributed worldwide in the spring of 2006. It is part of the Budokai game series and was launched following Budokai 3: Dragon Ball Z. It is the PlayStation Portable's first Dragon Ball Z game. Dragon Ball Z: Shin Budokai - Another Path is its sequel.
The game has four different modes:
The Scenario Story mode, where you choose between Goku and other Dragon Ball Z characters along with the plot progression. These choices determine the further evolution of the story.
The Arcade mode, where you play as a single-player and fight against the CPU after choosing a particular Dragon Ball Z character.
The Z Trial mode, consisting of two styles of play - Survival and Time Attack. In the former, the player has to combat the CPU enemies for as long as they can survive, while in the latter, the goal is to defeat a predetermined set of CPU opponents as fast as possible.
The Profile Card mode, where customizable profile cards of in-game characters listing their names and power levels are present.
Dragon Ball Z: Shin Budokai features fast-paced multiplayer battles with the universe’s strongest fighters, providing 18 playable characters including the acclaimed fighter Pikkon. The fighting system is a revamped version of the one in the popular Saiyan Overdrive title, showcasing in-game character transformations into more powerful forms. The Dragon Road mode is the most compelling story mode in the game.
