Jahshaka 0.5.0 Release notes. New Asset module and functional improvementskuba - Thursday, 22 February 2018
Jahshaka development team released Jahshaka 0.5.0 Alpha for download. The changelog include major code cleanup, player update, editor and world manager with new features, new asset module and launched of JahFX platform.
The updated release was focused on cleaning up our code. A big part of this was moving over to the CMake system of managing projects at a source code level, which when combined with Git Submodules will now allow to integrate 3rd party libraries with ease. It will be used for our upcoming "Bullet" physics engine support. Jahshaka development team have also moved away from using the file system to store and manage assets, and cleaned up our database structure so we are now fully powered by SQLite.
The most notable feature in Jahshaka 0.5.0 release is the Asset module, which helps to manage 3D assets. The asset module comes complete with a 3D viewer, and the ability to download and import models. This feature is powered by new JahFX platform, where you can browse a large collection of free 3D models. Jahshaka 0.5.0 Release notes include also functional improvements, from better support for 3d outlines to better and more realistic shadows, and support for animated materials. The traditional menu-bar was removed, all functionality is moved into dialogs within the app to prepare for a "In VR" world workflow.
Moreover, Jahshaka development team introduced features to look forward releases including bullet physics integration, adding support for OpenVR, the ability to publish worlds online and sync them, and better integration with the JahFX platform.
