Aegisub was designed as a free, open-source, cross-platform subtitle editing program that is being used professionally for creating or translating unofficial subtitles for visual media. The software was developed by Niels Martin Hansen and Rodrigo Braz Monteiro and released in December 2014. The software is the successor of the original SubStation Alpha and Sabbu softwares and is used by many companies like Crunchyroll and extensively in fansubbing. The software was developed specifically for translating, timing, editing, typesetting, quality checking, karaoke effecting and karaoke timing.
There are many groups that use different tools for some of such subtitle steps, such as Adobe After Effects that is used for typesetting, or a simple text editor for translation, the software is more reliable as it designed for timing and styling of subtitles, as well as the creation of karaoke. The software’s native subtitle format is Advanced SubStation Alpha text, which supports subtitle positioning and also styling. The program also supports many other common formats such as SubRip. The software consists of many features that include support for the timing to both audio and video and can use any video and audio processing bindings to process those, such as Avisynth and FFmpeg. It can also be extended with the Lua and MoonScript scripting languages.

Installation Requirements for AEGISUB
To install the AEGISUB on PC, make sure that the following requirements are met by the user in the PC desktop.
PC – Make sure that your PC is on Windows 7 or higher with at least 4 GB of RAM.
Compatibility Mode is enabled.
How to Download AEGISUB on Windows
Follow the below steps to download and install the AEGISUB on your PC:
Go to AEGISUB ’s website, and go to Downloads.
Click on Download Now.
Select ‘Save’ to download the program. The file will be saved in the Downloads folder.
If you want to save in a specified folder on your desktop, then click on ‘Save As’ and select the folder you want the program to be saved.
After the download is complete click on the .exe file.
The installation process will start.
Run the installation package.
Wait until the update completes
Follow the Windows installation instructions and select options accordingly.
Click on Finish to complete the installation.
The program icon will appear on the desktop.
Select the icon to start the application.
